    Safety DashBoard Getting Rave Reviews

    ELECTRI International's commissioned research on safety strategies for line construction is getting a lot of attention. The Safety DashBoard is one result of the research conducted at the University of Colorado by Dr. Matthew Hallowell. This risk mitigation analysis tool is unique in that it helps electrical line contractors and utility customers determine safety and health protective strategies utilizing a cost benefit approach.

    ELECTRI BOARD STREAMLINED

    The ELECTRI International Board of Directors has voted to accept recommended governance changes that will help streamline the Foundation’s operations. The vote to restructure the Board came from a series of changes detailed in a research study commissioned by the Foundation during 2011. The vote was approved by ballot on April 10, 2012.

    Hazard Communication Standard Revised for Global Harmonization

    OSHA is revising its 1983 Hazard Communication Standard to align with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System. The first compliance date employers need to be aware of is December 1, 2013, the date by which employees must be trained on new HazCom provisions relevant to worksites.

    CROSS-BORDER ADVICE LEADS TO MAJOR SAVINGS FOR PANAMA FIRM

    When George Troutman (MJ Electric) met Moises Chang at ELECTRI international’s 2012 Cross Border meeting, they never knew how valuable their connection would be. Chang is Commercial Manager for Ingelmec, a company performing work for the utility company in Panama. Specifically, Ingelmec is reconductoring a 230 KV line with ACSS conductor. Chang asked if any NECA contractor had experienced problems with ACSS conductor installation. Troutman had, and the two began to talk.
